Introducing Fairlawn Chiropractor Dr. Jennifer Gilliam

It’s true what they say – "mother really does know best".

My mom had been treating with a chiropractor, and decided it would be in our best interest for my brother and me to start seeing the chiropractor as well. We were both student athletes, and mom wanted to keep us in optimum health. So we started treating regularly with the chiropractor and found that we were happier, healthier, and were able to perform better in our chosen sports.

I always knew that I wanted to work in the healthcare field, and once I began seeing a chiropractor, I realized this was the path for me. I wanted to help people – I wanted to make them feel better and live better, without invasive surgeries or costly prescription medications. What better choice than chiropractic? I wanted to do for others what the chiropractor had done for me and my family. I knew that I could make a difference in the lives of my patients, and this was my goal. To achieve this goal, I began paving my way toward a career in chiropractic.

I started at the University of Akron and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then moved on to Logan College of Chiropractic, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, as well as my Doctor of Chiropractic. While attending school in Akron, I worked with Ravenna City Police and Fire as a dispatcher. After moving to Missouri to attend Logan, I volunteered at the Scottish Games, played on the ladies basketball team, and also played on the co-ed softball team which competed at the Chiro-Games.

My main aspiration is to help people get well, and once they are well, to keep them well. I strive to maintain a patient-driven practice. I want to know my patients, and for them to know me. I want them to feel comfortable telling me about their pain, and to trust in the care I provide. I never want my patients to feel that they are just another patient. I want them to know that I care about them, their families, and their lives. I also want to help my patients understand the role of nutrition in a healthy lifestyle, and help improve the quality of life for my patients.

I love spending time outdoors. Over the summer, I enjoy golfing with the ladies of the Barberton Chamber. When I’m not golfing, my dog, a Rottweiler named Roz, loves to take walks, and we really enjoy our daily walks together. Camping and diving also top my list of recreation activities, especially up in my native Canada, where some of my family still resides.

As a doctor of chiropractic, I understand the benefits of adjustments. I get adjusted once every two or three weeks, just to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I truly believe in the benefits of chiropractic, and hope that I will have the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how chiropractic can help improve your quality of life! Call our office today to start reaping the benefits of chiropractic.

Dr. Pramik Asks some important questions of interest to Fairlawn residents - Chiropractor Fairlawn Dr. Pramik Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's the difference between maintenance, prevention and wellness?
Maintenance chiropractic care is an attempt to keep a dynamic, ever-changing and adapting organism (you) in a static relationship with your environment. Preventive chiropractic care is mostly about early detection. Wellness chiropractic care is an attempt to optimize our health and be all that you were designed to be.
